Welcome to Marilyn Ibsen Coaching and Counselling Services:
- How would you like your life to be different right now?
- What would you need to change in order for that to happen?
My passion is to walk alongside my clients as they define the changes they want to make in their life, explore ways of moving forward--of translating their desire into reality, put these into practice, and then celebrate what they have achieved.
I am a registered clinical counsellor whose office is located in Abbotsford. I enjoy working with individuals and couples who desire to make changes that will help them live happier, more satisfying lives. I do this by listening thoughtfully to their story, by asking questions that help them clarify what they really want and how they might achieve that, and by offering concrete approaches that will help them move towards their desired result. I have been very intentional in continually learning new approaches and information that will help me work more effectively with my clients.
I use two main approaches with clients--counselling and coaching. These address different situations or needs.
Counselling: focuses on returning to a place of functioning normally in the present. People who benefit from counselling look for help to work through emotional pain from past trauma, abuse or hurts, to explore ways to live with difficult present or past circumstances, to acquire tools to better manage depression, anxiety or other personal challenges, or to salvage a relationship before it’s too late. Coaching: begins with the present and helps individuals set clear, specific goals of what they want to achieve in the future. Most often these goals will be around enhancing performance in a specific area of their lives. Some examples include moving productively through transition times, achieving a healthier work-life balance and improving work performance. Past issues may be addressed when they block the client from moving forward, however coaching focuses on taking action more than on gaining insight. For more information on coaching, click here.
